With a spotlight on Hungarian animation, the 2025 Annecy International Animation Festival presents a rich and varied programme. The line-up includes competitive and non-competitive screenings, making-of sessions, notable guests, masterclasses, milestone celebrations, and more. This year, the festival — held in the French Alps from June 8 to 14 — places special emphasis on television series, in honor of Mifa, which runs from June 10 to 13 alongside the main event. Mifa, the festival’s business hub, was originally created to support television and now celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Since this year's focus is on animated TV shows, it makes perfect sense that the festival's teaser stars one of the most iconic animated characters of all time: Bugs Bunny. Voiced by the incredible Eric Bauza, Bugs is back in top 2D shape — and looking better than ever.

Despite recent successes in both the quality and financial success of animated films, it has remained a tough time for the animation industry in the wake of the pandemic. Studios are laying off talented artists and axing long-awaited projects, not to mention the profound changes unleashed by the rise of AI. Celebrating animation's past, present, and future is an act of resilience — and a beacon of hope for those who live and breathe this artform.

As usual, the Annecy Festival showcases exclusive footage and first looks at the highly anticipated animated films and series. However, the 2025 edition promises to be especially packed with exciting content. For the first time, Walt Disney Studios, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Disney Television, and 20th Television Animation will gather at the festival.
